Finally we, the Polish people, will formally belong to the European Union`s family.
It is high time that we introduced ourselves, regularly, every month, to Europeans and the world as a society, as citizens, as a nation that can contribute essential values to the growth and integration of Europe.
In order to be an understandable member of the community we must present ourselves – with all our strengths and weaknesses. On the columns of this monthly we want to fight the humbling stereotypes of Poles in Europe and around the world as egocentric, troublesome, lazy and thieving. This image is not only a dark one. Colors and other shades are appearing with more confidence.
Poles were always a nation of cosmopolitans, even during communist times. Since 1989, thanks to the openness of the world, we can observe personally and immediately how nations both close and farther away from our borders live and work. We assimilate positive and sometimes negative attitudes and model of behavior. The final balance, however, is positive.
On the pages of our publication we will show what is being done by Poles, who are not indifferent to the fate of their homeland and that of Europe. We will also feature foreigners living and working in Poland who own both small and large firms and whose contribution to the growth of Poland, Europe and the world, will be considerable.
We will lobby concerning issues – Polish and foreign – that are current in Poland and Europe.
The central location of Poland in Europe authorizes us to make efforts on behalf of understanding between various residents of Europe and demonstrate a community of interests.
Our centuries-long presence in Central Europe is our advantage and obligates us also to mediate and prevent possible conflicts.
Within the monthly, readers will find information and commentary concerning meaningful areas of life – politics, economics, culture, social issues and even sport, if they are worthy of European attention.
Moreover, each reader will be able to suggest a subject about which he would like to hear more.
We also invite readers to request interviews with Poles and foreigners who, for one reason or another, are of interest and will accept suggested questions.
Our monthly is addressed to decision-makers in Europe and around the world. Readers will receive the publication free of charge and delivered direct. If we have omitted someone who is interested in receiving DECISION-MAKER, please send your name and address by email.
I hope that the knowledge contained in each number will bring myself and readers step by step closer to one another.
I invite readers to co-edit the publication.
