My city
The things that bother me about the city are partly manifested in other cities, such as traffic jams. It is upsetting how much work is needed to maintain the cleanliness of Warsaw`s streets. In terms of people, there is one type of insecure citizen who regrets that he or she can`t be a Varsovian. When I lived on the coast and traveled to the capital, people said I was "from the territory". I can`t stand that expression. Another think I dislike about Warsaw is architectural chaos. I realize that this state of affairs is the result of 45 years of communism. We could improve the situation if we were able to apply a little elasticity in spending EU structural funds. Today the use of EU funds is limited by a number of restriction - says Lech Kaczyński, mayor of Warsaw. całość...
MEMORY AND THE FUTURE
Don`t turn out the light
John Paul II once again demonstrated, perhaps even politicians, how strong the nation is. The strenght can be enlightened or lead us further into the darkness. The second scenario is a dangerous one indeed. It is evident that Poles lack not only time-tested authorities, but a leader. One can see that people in various positions do not even trust their own powers of reason and cannot see what is right and what is wrong, what should be accepted and what rejected. Even the best quotes from homilies by John Paul II won`t help us without deeds of truth. This is a heads up those who are responsible for the image of our country today: for the Church, media and politicians. Don`t turn out the lights that burn in youth and other Poles across the country. You never know when history has started a new chapter. Maybe this is precisely that moment - write Iwona Majewska-Opiełka. całość...
THE ROYAL CASTLE
Symbol of state

ŁAZIENKI PARK
An enchanted place
Łazienki is a symbol of historical and national events. It is connected with much of Poland`s history, and not only that of the 18th century when King Stanisław August Poniatowski gathered the greatest minds in the Republic in the park - everyone remembers the Thursday meetings with the king, during which the state`s affairs and cultural issues and so on were dealt with. Today park requires constant care and a steady stream of financial contributions. As long as I am alive, I will not allow the paths to be lighted because of the animals living in the park - saying Professor Marek Kwiatkowski. całość...
GIFT FROM STALIN
The capital`s icon
The Palace of Culture and Science is at the moment a structure indisputably connected with the city. The building weas erected over the ruins so there was no need to tear down any existing structure. So, the argument that something valuable was destroyed to make way for a symbol of Stalinism just doesn`t hold up - saying Lech Isakiewicz.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT
We will compete
Given the funds Mazovia receives from the EU and the region’s average income, we are approaching 75 percent, which means that the region’s capacity for absorbing union funds for regional development within the current legal framework is declining - saying Adam Struzik, Marshal of the Mazovia province. całość...

AN ENTREPRENEUR`S CONCERN
Mutation of democracy
Any man who places his trust in Polish politicians, even with respect to the most banal and simple issues, is a candidate for intensive psychiatric counselling. I don`t believe more than 10% of society would even express trust. całość...
