As entrepreneurs and employers, we expect that the state and local authorities create conditions supportive of business development: ensuring macroeconomic stability, maintaining budgetary discipline and avoiding making promises without the money to back them up. The duty of parliament and the government should be to improve Polish legislation in such a way that our companies and products can remain competitive. We will then be able to take full advantage of the opportunity offered by entry into the European Union.
{ADDONS}
Polish private firms currently represent:
75% of Gross Domestic Product
70% of all employees
79% of exports
Private enterprise has become the cornerstone of Polish development and of the future good prospects of Polish employers and employees. It has been the great success of all who have created their own businesses, often from the ground up with their own hard work and determination. It is also the success of those who work effectively in these businesses.
However, the regulations of a free market are still not fully accepted, neither by society nor by politicians. Without understanding that the source of a business’s development is profit, it will not be possible to achieve even the most deserving social objectives. Demands for more state funding are no substitute for economic growth. We declare our support for the creation of new jobs and new opportunities for personal development but not for sharing out poverty.
Political demands will not coerce business people into expanding their businesses, giving their staff rises, paying higher taxes, creating new jobs, or increasing exports or investment. The basic criterion for their decisions must be a commercial one.
WE DEMAND:
* a lower uniform tax rate which would give us the resources to invest in our businesses,
* lowered costs of employment, including ZUS (social insurance) contributions, so that we may confidently increase the level of employment,
* laws creating more flexible employment arrangements,
* adjustment of the level of social guarantees to the demands of the market,
* stable and consistent laws which are rigidly enforced and are independent of the will of officials, which will cut corruption
* the concept of service by government offices and institutions in dealings with business
* equal rights and responsibilities for both private and public firms,
* equal rights for organisations of employers and trades unions.
We announce the Declaration in a spirit of responsibility for the prospects of our firms and our employees, in the face of the unique opportunity which our country is facing for economic and social development.
